Ophthalmos Research Team have demonstrated that omega 3 fatty acids when used at the right dosage (by testing the blood AA/EPA ratio) could be beneficial in patients with Age Related Macular Degeneration and perhaps other ocular pathologies which involve photoreceptor damage. The benefits will have a positive impact on the quality of life of patients suffering from such conditions.
‘The findings not only show promising therapeutic potential for Dry Macular Degeneration but also for other conditions which cause photoreceptor damage such as macular dystrophies’ said Dr Tassos Georgiou Consultant Ophthalmologists and the Head of the Research Team at Ophthalmos Institute.
